B O O K · S I · L O G  is a mash-up of my favorites: the quintessential Filipino breakfast dish SILOG, a hearty combo of meat*, garlic rice (sinangag: “SI”), and egg (itlog: “LOG”).

*There are many variations of silog, i.e.:

  • tapa (thin slices of cured beef) + siningag + itlog = tapsilog

  • tocino (sweet cured pork) + siningag + itlog = tosilog

  • daing na bangus (marinated milkfish) + siningag + itlog = dasilog

…my choice here is BOOKS.

Books have fed me since I was a kid, and as an an adult I’ve developed a love for cooking as well. Sometimes I eat while reading, fall down a research rabbit hole of culinary histories, or cook a dish inspired by something in a book, so this is a landing pad for both my bookish and foodish enthusiams… continue reading
